Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Deuteronomy 5:16
Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
O-bservation:
This is the first command given by God, and He included a promise attached to it. The Lord said “Honor your father and mother and I’ll give you a long life and bless you where you live.”
A-pplication:
God never said your parents will always be good to you. I’m thankful that mine were, but so many have had parents who treated them unjustly. Still … none of that is mentioned. The command is to “HONOR,” no matter what. The person who can find it in their heart and will to “Honor” their Father and Mother will be the person who is able to “Honor” everyone they meet. When you are a person who lives with, and by, and for the purpose of “Honor,” people make way for you. You’re invited into places others never enter. Those who honor people have a better way of approaching crisis, consequently their stress levels are seldom maximized, giving them better health. In time, the person of “Honor” lives longer and has friends wherever they go. That’s basically what God promised to the person of “Honor.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me be a person of HONOR, today and every day. Amen
