He Did It, We Can TOO!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

St. Paul states the hard core fact that it was only through Christ’s sacrifice that God was willing to forgive us. So it is because of Christ’s sacrifice that we too are commanded to forgive others as well.

Whenever the word “BE” is used in the New Testament it’s meant as a directive from our Lord. The word “BE” prefaces this entire verse. When the Apostle says “Be kind and compassionate to one another,” it’s a command. It’s only through the power of Jesus in us that we can obey that command. Then comes the issue of forgiving others, and there’s no qualification here. He doesn’t say, “If they’re repentant be forgiving.” No, he just says “Be Forgiving.” This is Holy Spirit action territory. Paul was a “Grace” preacher, but he was also a “Be” preacher. The early “Followers of Jesus,” didn’t have years and years of history as to how it was done before them. Consequently, Paul laid down the way a Christian was to move forward, as well as how they should respond to any challenge in this Christian life. Paul’s emphasis was that God did it because of Christ’s sacrifice, and so since “He Did It, We Can TOO!”

Dear Jesus,

I don’t have enough “Thank Yous” this AM for the sacrifice you made. Because of it, I am forgiven and have eternal life! Amen
