Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Jeremiah 40:4
But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don’t come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.
O-bservation:
In a time when all of Israel and Judah had been overrun by Babylon, led by King Nebuchadnezzar, the King’s right-hand man went into prison and set Jeremiah, “God’s Man,” free. He then said, “You can come with me back to Babylon and I’ll take care of you or you can do whatever you want. You’re FREE!”
A-pplication:
“God’s Man,” Jeremiah, had been woefully treated by his own King for prophesying the TRUTH. Many of us have learned through the years that there are lots of folks who just don’t want to hear the TRUTH. It took a foreign King to loose “God’s Man” from his prison cell and set him free. Often times, people from the outside can spot “God’s Man” or “God’s Woman” before people from “The Household of Faith” can. “God’s Man,” Jeremiah, had played by “God’s Rules” from day one, even when it was unpopular. He had played by “God’s Rules” even when he was imprisoned by people from “The Household of Faith!” In the end, “God’s Man” walked free while the entire “Household of Faith” was enslaved. I’d call that “God’s Man, God’s Rules!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
As “Your Follower,” I realize that I go against the “TIDE” more often than not. But as “Your Follower,” I’d rather stick with You when in doubt. Please help me again today to do just that. Amen
