Everyone Sins!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

O-bservation:

For any Pharisee who thought himself righteous at that time in history, St. Paul stated unequivocally that ALL have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. For any person who claims to be unusually righteous today, the truth still stands.

A-pplication:

Let’s face it … “Everyone Sins!” I believe that’s even true after we have been saved and forgiven of our sin. In the Old Testament, King Solomon acknowledged, “There is no one who does not sin” (1 Kings 8:46b). As a young adult, I can remember my grandmother so desperately wanting to please God that she had her own set of rules for Godly living. They weren’t quite as extensive as the Talmud, but certainly just as religious. One day she told me, at the age of 80, that as far as she could remember she hadn’t sinned in at least four years! I knew she had a heart for Jesus and loved the Lord, but even though she knew the Bible well she must have skipped over Solomon’s words. It’s true that “Everyone Sins,” but because of God’s favor, of which we are all unworthy, we are forgiven by His GRACE. Whenever I start feeling a bit righteous, I remember the words of King Solomon and St. Paul, and at that point I lay my righteousness aside and thank God for His GRACE!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I’m walking away from the rules I’ve kept to embrace the GRACE for which I am unworthy. I love You, I honor You, and I worship You! Amen
