You Need A Prophet

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Ezra 6:14

So the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah, a descendant of Iddo.

Ezra, the priest of Israel, reported that during the rebuilding of the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem the elders continued to build and to prosper because they were being preached to by the prophets Haggai and Zechariah.

Upon their return to Jerusalem, after 70 years in Babylonian captivity, the people of Judah began to turn back toward the Lord. Before Ezra returned to Jerusalem, the people were already rebuilding the Temple, and while they were working the two prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, would preach to them regularly. It was the prophetic word from the Lord through these prophets that gave the elders ideas and understanding that they had not evidently had before. Consequently, the scripture says they continued without giving up, and in so doing they prospered. Whenever I read this passage of scripture, I always think, “Rich, You Need A Prophet.” In other words, true prophets of the Lord speak into your life such encouragement that real “Grit” is awakened that keeps you on the job. Second, ideas begin to flow, so that as they are implemented “Prosperity” is the result. Why? Because you have placed yourself under spiritual prophetic authority. If I need a prophet, I think “You Need A Prophet” too!

Dear Jesus,

I need a Prophet. I’m serious, Lord. Help me. I’m not good at prophesying to myself. I need a Prophet. Amen
