You Don’t Need A Crowd

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 18:20

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

O-bservation:

This was the end of a segment that Jesus taught concerning sin in the church and how to deal with it. Finally, He taught His disciples the power of agreeing in His name when we pray. He told them that if just two or three are gathered in His name, He is with them at that moment. The power of this declaration is, “You Don’t Need A Crowd.”

A-pplication:

During my lifetime of ministry and travels, I’ve been at all kinds of events. Usually whoever was hosting the event had planned for a large crowd. And, I get it. A crowd brings excitement, people attract people, and the more you have there’s a better opportunity to fund the event financially. But in Jesus’ world, He wants us as His people to focus on the power of agreement. I remember the story of Jonathon and his “armor bearer” taking on the Philistine army and destroying them (1 Samuel 13:16-14:52). Solomon said, “Two are better than one” (Ecc. 4:9a). The first missionary team that was ever sent out in the New Testament was made up of just two men, Barnabas and Paul (Acts 13:3). As I recall, they were extremely successful. What I want you to hear this AM is simply that “You Don’t Need A Crowd.” You Just Need someONE to agree with you and Jesus will join your team of agreement, and wonderful things will become a real possibility.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Please keep feeding me fresh vision, and I will look for someone to agree with me so that You will join the mix. I need agreement but most of all I need You! Amen
