You Can’t Burn The Church Down Anymore!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

2 Kings 25:9

He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.

This is the sad story of the time in history when Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon sent his men into Jerusalem and burned Solomon’s temple down. This exquisite and historical building, built unto the Lord, was burned to the ground. Oddly enough, God allowed it to happen. Yes He allowed the temple to be built, but it meant nothing to Him if men would not follow Him and serve Him.

That was then, this is now. No one can ever burn the temple of the Lord down again. The reason is because the temple consists of any man or woman who has confessed Jesus as Lord. Now He resides in these fleshly temples of ours. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yes the Lord enjoys our coming together under a certain roof to celebrate Him, yet the building is just the meeting place with God. You and I are the church. I like that. That’s why it’s true that, unlike Solomon’s Temple, “You Can’t Burn The Church Down Anymore!”

Dear Jesus,

This AM I ask You to live in me again today. Let me, for as long as ever I shall live, be the temple that You reside in. Amen
