S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
So do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands: Go—to the point of exhaustion— and give your neighbor no rest!
King Solomon was redoing and reframing a challenge that had occurred at the hands of his son. His son had put up security for his neighbor and shaken hands on the deal. In other words, he had given his neighbor his word. His father said, “You’ve been trapped by your own words. Here’s what you must do: WORK It Off!”
Solomon told his son, “You can’t run from your mistake.” He told him that he would have to work night and day, day and night, to earn the money it would take to pay the security. In other words, he would have to “WORK It Off!” How many times today do we pay for someone to do a job and they leave it half finished? You call them and call them, and it never gets done. Or you pay someone to fix your yard, but the more you pay the worse it looks. These are the days that Solomon would have cursed in his day. You don’t build a Temple for the Lord or a palace for yourself that has been acclaimed the world over as a work of extreme high culture and perfection if you put up with folks who don’t intend to keep their word. I’ve heard people say, “Well, they aren’t getting paid that much!” Yes, but that’s what they agreed to work for! The next time you owe someone something that you can’t pay on time, work night and day until you’re able to “WORK It Off!”
This AM I’m asking You to help me keep my word. When I’m asked to do something and I agree to do it, help me not to sleep until I’ve “Worked It Off!” Amen
