While In Babylon
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Romans 13:2
Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
O-bservation:
Here, St. Paul lays down the Christian mandate for civilians who are “Followers Of Christ.” He says, “Obey Them!” Anything having to do with rebellion against them will only bring judgment on the believer. Those who don’t follow Jesus have no stake in this matter, but those who do must obey. Why? God Himself has established leadership.
A-pplication:
If every believer in Jesus in this country and around the world would follow scripture and follow history, they would know that for the true believer, there has always been suffering for those who would follow Jesus. All of us who follow Christ are misplaced in whatever country we live in because we are truly citizens of another country whose builder and maker is the Lord himself (Heb. 11:16). While on earth, any country could be known as Babylon. In the book of Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar stole from, burned, and ravaged the city of Jerusalem and brought many Jewish slaves back from their homeland to live in Babylon. Jeremiah had prophesied this would happen in Jeremiah 29. He said, “When it does, settle down, build houses, get married, plant gardens, and pray for the peace of Babylon. Because if it prospers, you will too.” This is not a time for an earthly war that Christians make. Instead, it’s time to make the best of your life in Christ, “While In Babylon.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know war will come in time but help me not to be the person who brings war. You have called me to be a peacemaker at every turn. I’m not taking earthly sides; I’m always taking Your side. Help please, Jesus. Amen

Thank you for reminding us that we are just ambassadors here on earth, and to be fruitful and multiply, even in “Babylon.”
