When God Says Do It!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Ezra 7:23

Whatever the God of heaven has prescribed, let it be done with diligence for the temple of the God of heaven. Why should his wrath fall on the realm of the king and of his sons?

As Ezra the priest prepared to return to Jerusalem out of Babylon, where the Israelites had been in bondage for 70 years, he received a letter from King Artexerxes. In this letter, the king gave Ezra all the gold and silver in the treasury of Babylon that Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of Jerusalem. Artexerxes said, “Whatever else you need is yours, and please know that you have my full authority to assist you in setting up the temple of the God of Israel.” He then said, “I don’t want the wrath of your God falling upon me and my sons.”

Here is a totally heathen king acknowledging that the God of Israel is not only righteous but has authority over him and his family.  How is it that this king wrote such a powerful letter granting Ezra, the man of God, everything he needed? It’s obvious that God told him to “Do It!” I’m always amazed at the fact that we often think someone is way beyond the reach of our God’s influence, but this is another sign that God establishes authority and He also removes authority. No one is beyond the reach of our great Lord. It doesn’t always have to be a king or high ruler, sometimes it’s just a sour puss neighbor who stands in your way. Whoever or whatever it is today that you may be up against, ask Jesus to help you. You may ask, “Why?” My answer is simply that everything can turn around in an instant “When God Says Do It!”

Dear Jesus,

I’m thankful this AM that so many times in my life You helped me when I was challenged. Thank You that You still talk to folks and tell them to “Do It.” Amen
