What A Way To Go!

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Hebrews 11:21
By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.
O-bservation:
This is an interesting verse because this event took place in Genesis 48 before Jacob blessed all of his sons in Genesis 49. It happened because Joseph wanted a special blessing to fall upon his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. So he took his boys to his father, and Jacob blessed them each and afterward called all of his sons together.
A-pplication:
Jacob was a man who had lived a full life, and his journey and story are recorded in the book of Genesis. The story of his son, Joseph, being sold into slavery by his brothers because of their jealousy of him, is one of the greatest turnaround stories in history. Even Joseph himself said to his brothers when the ordeal was over, “What the devil meant for bad, God turned around for good” (paraphrase). As Jacob came to the end of his life’s journey, Joseph seized the opportunity of having his aging father bless his two sons. Before he died, and before he even had the opportunity to bless his own boys (which he did), Jacob blessed his two grandsons by Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim. The Bible says he did this leaning on his staff. He died not long after, but when you think about it, “What A Way To Go!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m reminded of the old saying, “Everybody wants to go to heaven, but not today.” The truth is that one day I know I’ll see you face to face. In time, all of my offspring and legacy will. Yet I’m asking that You give me a good time to bless them all before You call me home. I just think it would be a great way to go. Amen
