WATCHING

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Mark 13:37
“What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”
O-bservation:
This is the last verse in this 13th chapter of Mark. At the beginning of the chapter, in verse 4, some of Jesus’ disciples asked Him what the signs of His coming would be. He told them a number of signs, and then He said, “I’m telling you and everyone else to ‘Watch!’” In other words, be aware of what’s going on around you at all times.
A-pplication:
Immediately, I’m reminded that in Matthew 24:36 Jesus said, “But about that day or the hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Most theologians will say that Jesus was speaking from the “flesh” side of His manhood and not the “Spirit” side of His Godhood. In other words, Paul said that Jesus emptied Himself of His infinity in order to take on the limitations of manhood (Phil. 2:7). Yet, even Jesus said that He and the Father are ONE (John 10:30). So really, it’s not possible from Jesus’ divineness not to know the day of the coming of the Lord. However, at the very moment, He made this statement it most certainly was related to His limited manhood. Why do I mention it? Because the verse implies that the return of Christ could come at any minute and that all of us at all times should keep a “Watch” for the biblical signs that would signal His coming. The truth is that it has been well over two thousand years since Jesus gave us the command to “Watch,” and this AM His coming is that much closer. Keep Watching!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m Watching as always for Your soon return, even right now. But while I’m waiting, I’m doing my best to give ALL I am and have for the Kingdom. Until Your Kingdom comes. Amen
