Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Jesus said these words to His disciples, along with a volume of teaching on the phoniness of the spiritual leaders the Jewish people were trained to look up to. He wanted His disciples and all future followers to realize that spirituality was really in their hands. He said, if you exalt yourself, you will be humbled and if you humble yourself you will be exalted. Another way of saying it could be, “Up Or Down? It’s Our Decision.”
How do you live your life? Other people can judge you, at least I know that from personal experience, but only you and I really know how we live our lives. If we live from the outside in, we have a tendency to care about what others think of us more than how the Lord thinks of us. On the other hand, if we live from the inside out, we tend to care more for the inner man or woman and how that part of us is doing. The question is, what will it be? Jesus helps us with a bit of motivation in this verse. He said, “If you humble yourself, I will exalt you.” But then He also said, “If you exalt yourself, I will humble you!” Wow! Because I know the Lord, I really want to make the first decision. But in the end, for all of us, “Up Or Down? It’s Our Decision.”
Even as I approach Your heavenly throne in prayer this AM, I’m already humbling myself. You are my only hope. I know for me, the best way up is down. Amen
