Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Matthew 18:4
Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
O-bservation:
These were the words of Jesus to His disciples. They had come to ask Him, “Who is the greatest in heaven?” Jesus turned to a child who was present to answer them. He said whoever is willing to humble themselves to the lowly estate of this child, in time will become the greatest in heaven.” I believe Jesus was saying if you get as low as you possibly can in this life, as it relates to the humbleness of your heart, at the end of the day, you will go “Up From Down, In Time.”
A-pplication:
No one has ever impacted my life as much as my wonderful father. Dad refused to let me get the big head. I was still getting “Time Outs” as a teenager if he felt like I was promoting myself or growing a big head in any way. Dad’s way was always the Jesus way. He hated arrogance, and although he could not control the activities of the folks who attended the church, he pastored, he certainly felt like he could control me. He would say, “Rich, stay as close to the ground as you possibly can. If you are faithful to the Lord, even when you feel like your face is in the dirt, Jesus will promote you, and you will go Up From Down, In Time. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I promise all of his words have come to pass. He never had a college degree or anything like that. He just knew God. And … he lives close to the ground. And yes, I’ve experienced Up From Down, In Time.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I can never thank You for giving me my father. He taught me how to get Up From Down, In Time by staying close to the earth and not getting the big head. I’m honored to call you my big brother. Amen
