True Justice, Mercy, And Compassion

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Zechariah 7:9

This is what the Lord Almighty said: “Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.”

After coming home from 70 years of slavery in Babylon, the Lord spoke to the people of Israel. He said He wasn’t as interested in their fasting as He was with their overall treatment of people. What God demands from His people, then and now, is that we, His people, must treat others with “True Justice, Mercy, And Compassion.”

In my latest studies, I’ve been going over God as creator. God at the beginning created the heavens and the earth, and it’s clear that at creation and even now He is the owner of ALL. It’s all His. The earth and everything on it belongs to God. And our great Lord is wanting us to steward what He owns. We don’t even own our homes or cars, because the moment we’re dead someone takes over the management of what we thought was ours. In this passage, God said, “More than anything I want you to treat everyone you meet with True Justice, Mercy, And Compassion.” Should we fail in keeping this directive, we do so with the suggestion that we somehow have ownership in the matter. The truth is, WE DON’T. God is the owner, we are the stewards. If we won’t steward our relationships with “True Justice, Mercy, And Compassion,” perhaps the Lord will find someone else who will. For me, I’ll go with stewardship over ownership in order to stay in the game.

Dear Jesus,

I’m so thankful that I get to be a part of Your great plan. With Your help, I won’t mess it up by trying to take over Your stuff. I’ll steward whatever You think I’m able to handle. Amen
