The Watchman

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 3:17

Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

O-bservation:

These are the words of the Lord to the prophet Ezekiel. God told him that He had made Ezekiel and called him to be “The Watchman” for the people of Israel. God then told Ezekiel that he was to call out sin in a person’s life, and if the Watchman/Prophet failed to do it that person would die in their sin, and the prophet would be responsible for their blood!

A-pplication:

This is definitely in the style, fervor, and language of the Old Testament prophet. The way the New Testament Leaders operated, you would think they were living the words of Ezekiel. Paul said, “Woe is me if I preach not the gospel.” What was he saying? I believe he was speaking of the impassioned call of God upon his life that compelled him to fight for the souls of every man and woman he came in contact with. Was Paul any less of a Watchman than Ezekiel? I doubt it. The beatings, imprisonments, and mocking he endured certainly puts him front and center with any Old Testament prophet. What I’m saying is, we need men and women today who will dedicate themselves to be “The Watchman” for this present hour. Once we determine who’s blood we’re responsible for, the idea that we can somehow leave this mission to someone else will be done with once and for all.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am ready to be “The Watchman” for the people I’ve been called to serve. It’s not my intention to see faults in others and call them on it. Rather it’s in my heart to live and preach Your Word, which will bring light to any darkness that may be lodged in the lives of my people. Amen
