The RIGHT Approach
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Samuel 25:28
“Please forgive your servant’s presumption. The Lord your God will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my lord, because you fight the Lord’s battles, and no wrongdoing will be found in you as long as you live.”
O-bservation:
These are the words of Abigail after her husband Nabal, a wealthy punk of a man, mistreated David’s men. They had protected Nabal’s shepherds in their fields and stolen nothing from them for as long as they were there. When David sent them to ask the man for some food assistance, he treated them rudely and sent them away with nothing.
A-pplication:
When David heard their report, he told his men to armor themselves and prepare to destroy Nabal and his livelihood. As David and his men approached his land, Nabal’s wife Abigail prepared unusual amounts of fruits and bread and wine and sheep and more to present to David. She then pleaded for his mercy by saying the words above. Upon hearing the words of honor from the arrogant man’s humble and beautiful wife, David changed his mind. He took her offerings and pledged his support of her. Later, her husband died, and Abigail became David’s wife. All of us can learn from this wise woman who ended up married to the greatest Israeli King ever. Abigail earned her high position in life by using “The RIGHT Approach.” Humility and Honor work every time. They combine for “The RIGHT Approach.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me this AM and every day to use “The RIGHT Approach” as I meet and fellowship with others. Help me remember Abigail and what “The RIGHT Approach” helped her achieve in her life. Amen
