Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
The Psalmist speaks of God’s blessing being on those who find their strength in the Almighty. But then he said that there is also a blessing on the one whose heart is continually pursuing the Lord. He speaks of this pursuit of God as if the individual had set out on “The Pilgrimage” of a lifetime.
There is no way to describe what is stirring in my soul as I write these thoughts this AM. If you and I were to literally make every day a “Pilgrimage” to knowing God, I wonder how many questions we would have at the end of the day? In other words, the closer we get to God, it should mean fewer questions, not more questions, right? I think of people who make Pilgrimages to religious sites or historical sites that hold deep meaning to them personally, after the Pilgrimage there’s a deeper understanding of the site visit. Many of the questions they had when they set out have been answered. Perhaps today, the answer to our questions about our Lord could be answered if we stopped asking and set out for “The Pilgrimage” of a lifetime. Knowing God.
This AM I’m thinking that maybe it’s time to stop asking You for stuff and about stuff and set out on my Pilgrimage to find You for myself. I know this has been my pursuit for quite a while, but it’s renewed in a new way today. Amen
