Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.
These are the words of Jesus. In this passage, He tells us that His source of strength and productivity is not of His own making but comes from God Almighty. Jesus then said, “The One I Want To Please is My Father, the one who sent me.”
More and more each day, “The One I Want To Please” is the Lord. Don’t get me wrong, if I can do something to help someone in need I will certainly, by all means, help that person. In other words, I do want to please people by helping them when in need, but my ultimate object of affection is undeniably Jesus, my Lord. There is no one who is His equal. How can anyone be equal with God? Well, we believe Jesus is God. Obviously then, He is “The ONE I Want To Please.” Why? As a young boy, I wanted to please my teachers. Then I wanted to please my bosses. Then I wanted to please my wife. Then I wanted to please my children. Now I want to please the church I attend. But Jesus gave me all of those gifts. My teachers instructed me on a wide variety of learning throughout the years. My bosses helped me earn a living by the jobs they afforded me. My wife is my soul mate, she’s my incredible gift. My children are my legacy. The church I attend has been given to me as a body of burden bearers in my life. These are all gifts from God, and I want to please all of them, but Jesus is the giver of all these wonderful gifts. Truly, Jesus is, “The ONE I Want To Please.”
You are “The ONE I Want To Please.” Amen
