The Need For Praise
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 148:13
Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
O-bservation:
It’s apparent when you read the entire chapter that King David must have become overwhelmed with, “The Need For Praise.” Throughout the Psalms, there are breakouts of praise where the Psalmist seemed as though he could no longer contain himself. That’s what is being said here. He would like for all readers to stop what they are doing and praise the Lord!
A-pplication:
The longer I live and purpose to please the Lord, the more I’m encouraged to praise the Lord. So much of your life, and mine, has to do with focus. What I focus on will determine my attitude and my response to whatever stimuli, both good and bad, I am subject to at any given moment. When we seek to focus on pleasing Jesus with our thoughts, our actions, and our words, pretty soon praise comes on us. That’s what I believe happened in this passage. David was so grateful for all the Lord meant to him that he saw “The Need For Praise.” Not just for himself, but for all who would read his words. Yes, it is time to praise the Lord.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, as I seek Your face, something is welling up on the inside of me, and I feel “The Need For Praise.” Amen
