The Head And Not The Tail
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Deuteronomy 28:13
The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.
O-bservation:
This twenty-eighth chapter of Deuteronomy is a simple lesson on blessings and curses given by God through Moses, the prophet to the people of Israel. There are fourteen verses on blessings if you obey the Lord and fifty-four verses on curses if you disobey the Lord. Verse thirteen is the blessing that gets people’s attention the most. If we pay attention to the commands God has given us, and if we will carefully follow them, we will always be the HEAD and not the TAIL. Also, we will ALWAYS be on the TOP and NEVER on the BOTTOM.
A-pplication:
Everybody wants to be the first and not the last, the winner and not the loser, and especially “The Head And Not The Tail.” I think that’s just the preference of almost everyone I’ve ever met. How is it that so few ever really become, “The Head And Not The Tail?” I think it has to do with the way we enter this race called LIFE. The scripture says, “All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Yet there is always hope for each of us sinners. We will be given in this life a chance to come to faith in Almighty God. Based upon that choice, and whether or not we follow His commands, we all can be “The Head And Not The Tail.” But so many reject our loving Lord and instead insist on running life on their own accord. That never works to one’s advantage. Instead of becoming “The Head And Not The Tail,” they end up in the exact opposite state. You and I have the opportunity to choose to follow the Lord today. Let’s choose to be “The Head And Not The Tail.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I love You, Lord. Today, as always, I’m blessed to be “The Head And Not The Tail.” It’s only happened as You have helped me to follow Your commands. I can never thank You enough! Amen
