The Divine Makeover
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
O-bservation:
St. Paul explained in this statement how you and I were in an impossible state of life. The law could not transform us, it could only try and contain our failures. We needed someone who was perfect to come and experience what we experience. Someone who instead of failing would succeed, so that in time we could finally win. That person was Jesus.
A-pplication:
Here’s where things get controversial. We “Jesus People” believe that Jesus is God. I realize that two thirds of the world’s population do not believe that He is. But one third of the world’s population does believe He’s God. It took someone who was PERFECT to redeem sinful humankind. As a people, the human race was in such dire straits that there was no way out of the mess it represented. The scripture says we needed an example who was PERFECT in every way to come and be tempted in every way like we are, but not fail. That would have to be God Himself. Thankfully He (Jesus) did. He came to earth in the form of a baby, and experienced what we do, and was PERFECT at every point, and then he was crucified and rose again. He became what we were and conquered our failure so that through Him we could become RIGHTEOUS just like Him. I call that “The Divine MAKEOVER!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
How can I ever begin to thank You for coming and becoming like me so that in time I could become like You? I’m not sure I can, but I’ll start by saying Thank You! Amen
