The Connector
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
John 1:41
The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).
O-bservation:
This is John The Beloved’s memory of how the first witness of Jesus took place. Andrew, who was the brother of Simon Peter, had been a follower of John the Baptist. John the Baptist had been setting his followers up for the day Jesus would appear. One day, John the Baptist saw Jesus coming to be baptized and said, “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” That was all Andrew needed, and he left John the Baptist to follow Jesus. After spending a full day with Jesus, Andrew went to his brother Peter and said, “We’ve found the Messiah!”
A-pplication:
Whether you knew it or not, Andrew was the first to bring someone to Jesus at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. Andrew’s greatest gift was that of being “The Connector.” He was the first to bring a soul to Christ. He was the first to bring a child to Jesus with five loaves and two fish that were immediately used by Jesus to feed thousands (John 6). Andrew was also the first to bring despised people to Jesus. Philip asked Andrew what to do about these Greeks (Gentiles), who wanted to meet Jesus. Andrew said, “Why of course they can meet Jesus” ( John 12:21-22.) Andrew is not known as one of Jesus’ top three, but he was instrumental in bringing them all to Jesus. In the end, I’d like to be known as Andrew was known. He was “The Connector.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Strengthen me to do everything possible in my life to CONNECT people to You! This is my greatest desire. Amen
