Say Something
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Leviticus 5:1
If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible.
O-bservation:
In the Old Testament, one of the laws for the Jewish people was that when they had personally seen or heard something that had occurred that was wrong, they, in turn, would be guilty of committing a crime if they didn’t “Say Something” about it. In this manner, members of society were kept in check by one another.
A-pplication:
When I was quite young, I remember hearing of a Citizen’s Arrest more than once. Even today, there is legal provision for a citizen who sees a crime being committed to making a citizen’s arrest of the perpetrator. This can be a dangerous proposition, yet when you think about this Old Testament law and our modern-day Citizen’s Arrest, they have something in common. It is an attempt to keep civility at the forefront of society. This is what happens in a court of law. Both the prosecution and the defense bring forward witnesses to speak about what they have seen and heard. In this way, the jury can decide on whether the defendant is innocent or guilty. Now let’s bring this discussion into the spiritual realm. If a person was guilty in the Old Testament of not speaking up when they knew a crime had been committed, then how will God judge you and me if a friend has never heard the gospel, but we never tell them what we have experienced since following Jesus. We have been commanded to be witnesses of the Good News of Jesus. We have no excuse. We must “Say Something!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m prepared to “Say Something” to folks all day long about what You mean to me. Amen

I will always say what the Lord has done for me! I may not have the kind of réponse the Pastor has because of the size of my audience but I will still testify the goodness of my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ!
