1 Corinthians 7:24
Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
This is the chapter where the Apostle Paul talked about marriage. However, he wove other issues in as well. St. Paul wanted everyone to remain single as he was because he felt people were more committed to Jesus if they didn’t have to worry about a family. Most of all, in this chapter the Apostle wanted people to remain in the place where God found them. In other words, they were an unbeliever before, but after they found God, they were working in their chosen profession as a believer.
It’s important that believers impact the world they are called to. Not everyone who gets saved is called to leave. We’re called to Jesus but then sent back into our world to change it for the sake of Christ. We are the change this world needs. Yes, many are called to go, but more are called to “REMAIN” and this passage proves it. Don’t let someone push you to be what God never called you to be. Be the person who is filled with the person of Jesus and empowered by His Spirit! Today, if you trust Jesus, He will give you the power to REMAIN!
I want to be the person You have called me to be. I don’t want to run here and there trying to chase Your will. I know today that You have called me to be changed, but also to REMAIN steadfast in the place You have placed me. I’m good with that. Amen
