Rebellion Must Be Stamped Out!

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Samuel 20:1
Now a troublemaker named Sheba son of Bikri, a Benjamite, happened to be there. He sounded the trumpet and shouted, “We have no share in David, no part in Jesse’s son! Every man to his tent, Israel!”
O-bservation:
In the previous chapter, after Absalom’s rebellion and his death in battle, the tribe of Judah led David back across the Jordon river to reclaim his throne in Jerusalem. The tribes of Israel were bickering because they had not been allowed to assist David’s kinsmen in bringing the king back. That opened the door for a disgruntled man from the tribe of Benjamin to resurrect Absalom’s rebellious ways, and he told Israel to follow him. His name was Sheba. Many of them did.
A-pplication:
Once back on his throne, David sent Joab and Abishai and their army after these renegade soldiers of Israel and defeated them. All that happened in the aftermath of Absalom’s rebellion against his father. The point to this story is that the seeds of rebellion remain in people who have been won over to a rebellious plot. Rebellion doesn’t die easy. Yet in order for an army, an organization, a company, a church, or a family to move forward in victory, “Rebellion Must Be Stamped Out.” In this case, one man couldn’t shake his rebellion and led others astray. By the time it was over, not many died as a result because the main culprit, Sheba, had his head thrown over a wall by a woman who didn’t want any trouble. After that, everyone went back to their own home, and David finished strong. The young man, Sheba, who lost his head, did not know what old men know. “Rebellion Must Be Stamped Out!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With all of my heart, I will run from rebellion and run instead towards You. My life has been blessed because of following after You! Amen
