Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone.
The prolific writer of Hebrews made a bold and yet compelling statement to believers for all the ages. He encouraged and admonished us to make every effort to live in “PEACE” with everyone. In other words, whatever it takes. Whatever it costs you. No matter the amount of effort it will take, work for and make “PEACE” with everyone!
It is important that we look together at this biblical directive this AM. This will be the last time I mention it, but as you have read, I just returned from the Middle East this past week. For the last several years, I have been going to the Middle East to meet with Muslim people. Some of my Middle Eastern friends are Christian, but the vast majority are Muslim. During the last midnight meeting in Amman, we were discussing the future and what it might bring. Some of it was religious talk, but most of it was about the world we live in. One of the Christians who was with me said, “War is certainly coming!” Then the Muslims and one of the Christian Iraqis said, “NO! Peace must and will come!” Before I could judge either way, this verse was brought to my attention! It is not our call to prophesy war. It is our command from the Lord above to do everything we can to make “PEACE” with EVERYONE!
Help me remember this AM that I have not been called to make war, but I have been called as a “Follower of Jesus” to make “PEACE” with everyone! Amen
