If YOU Will … GOD Will

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Chronicles 12:7a When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Schemaiah: "Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance."

O-bservation:

Rehoboam was the son of King Solomon and followed his father as king over Israel. His father was the wisest man who ever lived, however Rehoboam was one of the dumbest. Go figure. Another leader in Israel named Jeroboam broke off the 10 northern tribes of Israel and Judah, and the Levites remained under Rehoboam's command. As dumb as he was, when he saw that God was going to annihilate both him and Judah he humbled himself, and when God saw it He said ... "I won't destroy them but will give them victory in time."

A-pplication:

If we are not careful we can operate as though God is not there. But the truth is ... God is there and HE is not silent. Instead of pushing against the laws and principles put in place by God since the beginning of time, we should just say with dumb Rehoboam, "The Lord is Just," and humble ourselves. IF WE Will humble ourselves, GOD WILL give us victory in time.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Don't let me ever operate, as if YOU are not there. I know that when I humble myself you will give me victory in time. Today I WILL ... in hopes that ... YOU WILL. Amen

You Can Go FIRST

S. O. A. P.

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather in humility value others above yourselves.

O-bservation:

Arrogance and personal agendas are denounced in this passage by St. Paul. Instead, as "Followers of Jesus" we are called to humble ourselves and honor others, not "certain others" but people in general above ourselves.

A-pplication:

The average person can spot a kiss-up from a mile away. And the only ones who can't are other kisser-uppers. This was not and is not the Jesus way. The person who has his or her own personal agenda is usually on a course that will run over those who get in their way. This was not and is not the Jesus way. The one who struts through life with a head as large as Montana is usually deaf to the voices behind them saying ... "Who do they think they are?" This was not and is not the Jesus way. The Jesus way has always been summed up in these four words: "You Can Go FIRST." Humility and honor always step aside to elevate others. I really know about this stuff. I've had the Montana head, the personal agenda, and yes ... I've been a kiss-up. I'm a lot better than I was, since I learned those four words ... "You Can Go FIRST."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I know I'm not where I should be, but even I can see a change in me since I learned it's not about me and my agenda and what I want. It's about YOU, and loving and honoring those who need to "Go first for ONCE." Amen

It’s All GOOD

S. O. A. P

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.

O-bservation:

When you come to Jesus and begin a life of faith in Him ... God begins a GOOD work in you that continues on and on until you one day meet the Lord in your eternal dwelling place.

A-pplication:

For the "Follower of Jesus" It's All GOOD! Even when things come your way that are tremendously challenging it's still working for your GOOD (Romans 8:28). Trials for the believer are our launching pads to the next grade of experience and victory (2 Cor. 2:14). God's desire is always for your brighter future, day by day. He started you GOOD. He's leading you into GOOD, and will see you finish GOOD. God is going to bring you everyday to something better than you experienced yesterday. I'm telling you ... It's all GOOD. What God started GOOD He will complete it, GOOD. "It's All GOOD."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank you that as your follower nothing can separate me from GOOD. Temptation can't, Bitterness can't, Haters can't, because YOU promised to complete the work of GOOD in my life. It's All GOOD! By the way You're a GOOD God. Amen

When No One Even Knows

S. O. A. P

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

O-bservation:

The Great Apostle directs all who read and who claim to be followers of Christ to just pray all the time. Spiritual prayers are prayers that are private. So in a private way pray about everything, and especially pray for every one of The Lord’s people. Of course, this includes your own friends.

A-pplication:

Somehow, in order to pray all the time in a spiritual sense, we must "close out the noise" and "discipline ourselves." Closing out the noise has to do with the media. Which as you know is self-inflicted. Disciplining ourselves has to do with talking to God about everything all the time. This activity of prayer is probably the only thing that could be termed a digital activity that our limited brains can actually engage (especially men). In my own experience, when I'm preaching I'm also praying in my mind "Oh God help me clarify that last statement," or "Oh God Please help me present with emphasis what I'm about to say,” or "Thank you Lord that people are going to respond right now." And YOU can study or design or build or converse with others while at the same time praying in the Spirit. And all this is being done ... "When No One Even Knows."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today I ask that you would strengthen me to "close out the noise" in my life, like the media, in order to pray in the Spirit. Also that I would discipline myself not to wander throughout the day in my thinking. But instead to pray in the spirit about what I've been wondering about. Amen

he Can’t Take What You Don’t GIVE him

S. O. A. P

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Ephesians 4:27 And do not give the devil a foothold.

O-bservation:

The Great Apostle warns every follower of Jesus, "Do not give the devil a foothold (a perch, a space, a niche, a place to stay) ... in your life ever." I added a few things there just so you know.

A-pplication:

The discussion leading up to and just after this particular directive has to do with issues like: tell the truth, get control of your anger, in place of stealing do something with your hands that is profitable. Watch what you say, don't let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth. Lose the bitterness and talking behind people’s backs. These are basic character practices of every real "Follower of Jesus." So when the Apostle says, "Don't let the devil get a foothold in your life" ... He is saying ... "Don't give the devil a space to Build A Case in your life for a bad attitude or any other potential vice." So, the idea that the devil ever steals basic moral character from any of us is just not possible. Because ... "he Can't Take What You Don't GIVE him."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today I ask for greater strength from the Holy Spirit in order that I may never ever give the devil an inch of space in order to gain a foothold in my life. Amen
