Never Ever Give Up!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Esther 10:3

Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.

O-bservation:

Mordecai was Queen Esther’s uncle. He was an assistant to King Xerxes of Persia. As a Jew, he normally would have been looked upon as an exile living among the mainstream. At least that’s what would have been expected of him. But Mordecai never approached life that way. His faith in God was strong, as was his love for his fellow Jewish people. He stood up for the Persian king and stood against those who would be against his people to the point that he was facing execution by them. But God rescued him, and he became second in command under King Xerxes as a Jew in the Persian kingdom.

A-pplication:

I love this story, and I love Mordecai. Whenever I read it, my first thought is, “Never Ever Give Up!” I don’t have space to detail this entire story, but let me tell you Mordecai should never have been spared but for God Almighty. He could have quit because the cards were truly stacked against him. But Mordecai would not be compromised. He stood strong for moral principles as well as ethical practice. Earlier in his life, he had thwarted a plot to kill King Xerxes by some of the king’s antagonists, and it was recorded in the annals of Persian history. Later, the king remembered his good deed. When things were at the absolute darkest, Mordecai refused to quit or run or try and manipulate. He wouldn’t quit trusting God. What is it that you’re facing today that makes you want to turn and run? Here’s God’s word for you right now. “Never Ever Give Up!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Sometimes I wonder if I can keep going because the cards often seem stacked against me. However, when I simply stop and remember who I serve, it causes me to take heart and press on. With Your help, I won’t give up! Ever! Amen
