My Intercessor Is My Friend
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 16:20
My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God.
O-bservation:
Job was inconsolable in this chapter. He poured out his heart to God because of the suffering that he had to endure. Yet this book, that theologians say is 400 years older than the book of Genesis is a book that reveals Jesus, our high priest, and intercessor in heaven. And it is found right here in this verse. Job speaks and says, “My Intercessor Is My Friend as my eyes pour out tears to God.”
A-pplication:
Long before the “King of Kings” was ever introduced to the earth in the form of a baby, Job was referring to him here. Jesus has always been the one interceding for us in heaven. Here is what the writer of Hebrews said about Jesus, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25). It is Jesus’ desire to be the one who pleads our case before the Heavenly Father. Indeed, He is our defense attorney. When the devil stands daily at the throne of God accusing us (Rev. 12:10), thankfully, Jesus is our defender and tells the father the truth. Fear is not to enter your heart or mine; remember what Job said, “My Intercessor Is My Friend!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m so very grateful this AM that You are my defender in heaven. You’re also my high priest. You stand between the devil’s accusations and shield me before the Father. I know it’s only because of Your love for me that I’m still alive. Thank You, Jesus! Amen
