Lord I Can’t Believe You Love Me

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 144:3

Lord, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?

O-bservation:

King David spoke with such awe of God Almighty in this passage. As he thought about the greatness of God, he probably shook his head back and forth as he asked God the question, “Why do You even think about us little humans here on earth? Why do You actually care about us?” He was most likely saying, “Lord, I Can’t Believe You Love Me.”

A-pplication:

Remember, David didn’t have an excess amount of reading material that was accurate concerning the heavens, the stars, and beyond. He had no digital morning data coming to his smartphone instructing him on the seven-day weather forecast. There was no 24/7 cable news or Netflix documentaries, yet David had an ability to observe and think and reason and time to do all three. Sometimes his writings feel like he’s been watching the evening news. He relates in such articulate ways his observations of the globe and people and enemies and how he so desperately needed God’s intervention in it all. BUT … in all of this was David’s intimate understanding of the loving heart of the Almighty. And in this verse, I believe he’s simply saying, “Lord, I Can’t Believe You Love Me.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’ve got all the latest “Cloud” information at my fingertips this AM, but it hasn’t made me any better and certainly not wiser than this great king named David. At the end of the day, I have the same longing statement to make that David did, “Lord, I Can’t Believe You Love Me.” Amen
