Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
1 Thessalonians 4:7
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
The first part of chapter four talks about “Followers of Jesus” pleasing the Lord by living a holy life. St. Paul talks about sexual passionate impurity outside of marriage as being the way pagans (people not knowing God) live. In this verse the Apostle says we are not called to be IMPURE, but to live HOLY lives.
When we read this passage, I don’t know if you’re like me, but I always wonder if Paul was speaking in faith or had he really conquered all of his impurities. I love being a man, but when it comes to this area of purity vs. impurity, I must be honest it’s still a fight for me. The battle is always in the mind. I know no other way to counteract impurity in the mind than through the Word of God. By God’s grace I don’t look at pornography, which fuels impurity. By God’s grace I’ve kept myself for my wife these many years, but still, I’m a man. That’s why when this passage is read, whether by male or female, the best thing to do this AM is cry out and ask, “Lord Help Me Be Holy.”
You know my heart. Yet You also know my battles. Once again this AM, I ask, “Lord Help Me Be Holy.” Amen
