Let No One Despise Your Youth
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Jeremiah 1:7
But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.”
O-bservation:
The Lord had called Jeremiah to the ministry of a prophet. Theologians believe he was most likely seventeen years of age or thereabouts. Jeremiah said, “God I can’t do that, I’m too young.” But the Lord said, “You just go to everyone I send you to, and I’ll give you the words to say to them. Never say you’re too young again.”
A-pplication:
I love this passage of scripture because it’s the same passage the Lord gave me in 1972 when He called me into the preaching ministry. When I read it then, and when I read it this AM, I think of the line, “Let No One Despise Your Youth.” Battles are fought, and wars are won with YOUTH. When God calls people to leave their homes and move to foreign cultures to spread the good news of the gospel, nine times out of ten, He chooses YOUTH. When you hear of a sports LEGEND, their LEGENDARY status was accomplished in their YOUTH. Most doctors, lawyers, and computer scientists were educated in those respective fields in their YOUTH. Jesus accomplished ALL He set out to do by the age of thirty-three. It was all done in His YOUTH. Let me say it one more time. “Let No One Despise Your Youth.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m here this AM thinking over my life, and the fact that all You’ve helped me to do was initially envisioned in my YOUTH. Thank You, Lord, for a vision given in my YOUTH that is still carrying me for a lifetime. Amen
