Keep On Singing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 137:4

How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?

O-bservation:

Here the writer asked, “How can we sing the songs of the Lord in a foreign land?” Obviously Israel had been overtaken, captured, and forced to live in the heathen place called Babylon.

A-pplication:

It’s probably time to ask we “Followers of Christ” when we should sing praise to the Lord and when we shouldn’t sing praise to the Lord. Here’s a few questions. Should we sing praise to the Lord when we’re sick? How about when we’re struggling financially? Should we sing when people want us to cease all forms of faith wherever we are? Is it proper to sing unto the Lord in the middle of a contentious divorce? When your child is battling heroin, is it proper to sing? Should we sing when facing a terminal illness that doctors say will bury us? In the middle of a home foreclosure should you sing? These are just a few questions to answer, but there’s probably a thousand more. I for one have experienced, like you perhaps, unusual challenges in my life. In each one of those challenges there has always been a song of praise in my heart and on my lips. Years ago, I decided to stop asking questions and just “Sing All The Time!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thank You that even today I have a new song in my heart. I’m just going to “Keep On Singing!” Amen
