Jesus Our Rescuer
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 35:10
My whole being will exclaim, “Who is like you, Lord? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.”
O-bservation:
David had been delivered from a terrible situation in the previous chapter, and he continues his praise of the Almighty by proclaiming that every last part of his being is ready to praise the Lord. He said that our great God always delivers the poor and needy from the hand of the oppressor. In fact, David was so overwhelmed by the goodness of our Lord that he asked the question, “Who is like you, Lord?”
A-pplication:
When David asked, “Who is like you, Lord,” he was really making a statement more than asking a question. He was so overwhelmed with Jesus’ ability to rescue him or anyone from any given challenge that he pondered the question as if to say, “Wow, there’s nobody like you Jesus. You always come to my (our) defense.” Have You ever been there in your life? Have you ever escaped a “really close call” and sat back later and thought, “How does Jesus keep rescuing me?” I know I have, and I’m aware that there is a spiritual or mystical event that always occurs, just in time, that gets me out of harm’s way. I know that bad things happen to good people, but I also know that the odds are always stacked in favor toward one who walks by faith and not by sight. So today every one of you must determine to be strong in the Lord because we serve the one who is known as, “Jesus, Our Rescuer!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me today to hide behind your mighty arm of grace. It feels like others are closing in on me and trying to rob me of my Joy. But I know that You are my Rescuer. With Your help, I will not fear! Amen
