Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
The Psalmist wrote that our mission as followers of the most High must be to help people who can’t help themselves! It is not our right to walk away and say, “Why don’t you folks get it together?” Instead, we are commanded to defend and uphold the cause of the weak, the fatherless, the poor, and the oppressed.
In these many years of living through decades of change, both in society and in the church, it has been my experience to watch people of faith walk by those in need and shake their heads as if to say, “What is wrong with you people?” This kind of attitude is diabolical and shows a complete lack of Christian love and action. It was our loving Savior who continually stopped what He was doing and defended, fed, healed, forgave, and blessed those he came in contact with daily. Certainly none of us are capable of being Jesus, but all of us who have been redeemed are capable, because of the Holy Spirit, of being LIKE Jesus. If Jesus people everywhere will simply be LIKE Jesus, then together we can impact the cause of the weak, fatherless, poor, and oppressed in a life-changing way. “It Must Be Our Mission!”
Let me be more like You today. Help me help others. Let me be the one who defends those who can’t defend themselves when I come in contact with them. It is my mission. Amen
