And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.
As one reads this chapter, it’s obvious that God in heaven did everything He possibly could to woo the people of Israel to Himself. This included harsh discipline when they rebelled. But when it appeared that they had sinned beyond God’s willingness to forgive them, He chose David to shepherd His chosen people. The scripture says that David led them with a heart of integrity and with skillful hands.
The Father in heaven would have been justified in annihilating the people of Israel for all of their waywardness; yet instead, He sent them a loving shepherd in David. “Isn’t That Just Like The Lord?” When You and I were lost in our waywardness and rebellion, instead of destroying us He sent us His Son. Our Savior Jesus. When we didn’t deserve another chance, He forgave us over and over again. And when He should have called an end to our constant questioning of His Lordship, here we are still going, only by His GRACE. I, for one, am thankful that I’m still breathing with all of God’s love raining down on me all the time. All I can say is, “Isn’t That Just Like The Lord?”
I realize that, but for Your loving Grace, I would have been a goner long ago. Yet you love me, and You continue to forgive me. Because of Your long-suffering over me, I actually have hope that I am a blessing. Thank You, Lord! Amen
