If You Will, I Will

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Zechariah 1:3

Therefore tell the people: This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Return to me,” declares the Lord Almighty, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty.

O-bservation:

When Zechariah began his tenure as prophet to the people of Judah/Israel, who were still enslaved in Babylon, the first thing the Lord spoke through him was, “If you will return to Me, I will return to you.” Not long after, the people of the Lord began returning to Jerusalem. They had been humbled and were ready to serve the Lord.

A-pplication:

The power of our Savior’s love for us is that it is never forced on us. In the end, no matter how far our rebellion against the Lord has gone, His grace keeps Him from forcing His love on anyone. That’s why the Lord spoke through the prophet, “If you will return to Me, I will return to you.” The Almighty refuses to make us do anything! That’s the blessing of our unique creation. We are free moral agents who determine our own eternity. We’re not animals ruled by instinct, or inanimate creations ruled by cause and effect. NO! We are human. God waits on us while He woos us with His love. But in the end the Lord’s rule is always, “If You Will, I Will.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m so thankful that You have never forced yourself on me. You’ve never been a dictator over me. Rather, You have been the one who has shepherded me in my darkest hours. You waited for me. I’m Yours because of it! Anything Lord, anything! Amen
