Here’s What I Do Know

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 9:25

He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”

O-bservation:

Jesus healed a man who had been born blind. Jesus picked up some dirt, spit in it, made mud, and put it on the man’s eyes. He told the man to go and wash in the pool of Siloam. When he did, he came back seeing perfectly. This infuriated the Pharisees because Jesus had performed the miracle on the Sabbath. They said, “How can He be of God because He does not keep the law.” When they asked the man about it, he said, “I don’t know if He’s a sinner or not, but Here’s What I Do Know, I was blind, but now I see.”

A-pplication:

Not long ago, I completed my dissertation and was awarded the Doctor of Ministry degree by a fine Christian University. I must tell you in all sincerity, that for the first time in my life I feel like I know very little. You’ve heard it said, “The more I’ve learned, the more I realize that I don’t know very much.” Because my field of study was Christian Ministry, there are hundreds of categories of learning that I know almost nothing about. You could ask me about metals and precious stones and random, barely known foreign villages and oceanography and astronomy and apiary’s and environmental engineering and race car RPMs and Chinese types of noodles, and I would have to say, “I Do Not Know!” “Here’s What I Do Know.” My son died, and Jesus brought him back to life in 1987. Jesus healed me of an incurable blood disease in the fall of 2016, which I had for 18 years. Most of all, I was lost, but now I’m found.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I’m reminded that I’m not really very bright. But “Here’s What I Do Know.” You’ve never lost a battle, and I know You never will. Amen
