Here Comes The Judge
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
James 5:9b
The judge is standing at the door.
O-bservation:
James, the brother of our Lord, reminds us that ultimately there is a judgment day coming. Someone has said that we should compare this scripture with the one found in Revelation 3:20, where Jesus says, “Behold I stand at the door and knock.” It’s as if the Apostle John, in his vision, saw Jesus beckoning people through the ages to open up and invite Him (Jesus) to come in and give them abundant life.
A-pplication:
Twice, St. Paul referred to Jesus as the righteous judge. He spoke of Him in Romans 2:16, and then again in his second letter to Timothy. Paul wrote, “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing” (2 Tim. 4:8). This is one type of judgment that Jesus will dispense to those who have embraced Him as their Lord in this life. But then there is the Great White Throne judgment, for the unrighteous. Both of these judgments are in the near future. So today, while He is standing and knocking at the door of every person’s heart on earth to extend His mercy, while there is yet time, you could also say to those who refuse, “Here Comes The Judge.” Make no mistake! One of those two judgments will be faced by each person who’s ever lived in the history of the world.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You this AM for Your saving grace. Thank You that You are still knocking at the heart’s door of every person alive today who has yet to open up and receive You. Help us, Jesus, to keep our gaze fixed on You, while You, the righteous judge, await that day. Amen
