Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
1 Samuel 28:12
When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out at the top of her voice and said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!”
This passage follows King Saul’s inability to hear from God as the Philistines had surrounded him for his last battle. The next day he would most certainly perish, yet he wanted to see if God would still spare him. When all hope was lost, he brought in the witch of Endor to bring up the spirit of Samuel, the prophet, who was now dead. Saul disguised himself so that the witch would not know who was asking. But when she brought Samuel up from his grave in a spirit form, immediately she knew she was speaking to a disguised King Saul.
Here was a man who had led Israel for 40 years. However, at this last stage of life, he ended so poorly that the Lord had to kill his lineage so no one from Saul’s family could succeed him. At this final, miserable stage, he could not contact heaven and so resorted to seeking help from the other side (The Dark Side), but even though he had disguised himself, this low life failure was so lost that “He Couldn’t Even Hide From The Devil!” Here’s what’s so wonderful about staying in harmony with the Lord and serving Him. You don’t have to worry about your cover being blown and the devil finding you out. Here is what King David said, “For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock” (Ps. 27:5). Here’s a simple word this AM, no matter what, keep living for the Lord. He’ll keep you hidden in a place the enemy can’t find you.
I’m thankful this AM that I am, while still living, like a dead man and hidden in You. My desires are Your desires, and my purpose is to serve the purposes of my Lord. Keep my hidden in Your secret place I pray. Amen
