God’s Into Offerings!
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Deuteronomy 16:17
Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you.
O-bservation:
This verse concludes a command that Moses had given the Israelites concerning the three high feast days in the Jewish calendar: the Festival of Unleavened Bread (Passover), the Festival of Weeks (Pentecost), and the Festival Of Tabernacles (Atonement). On these high feast days, everyone was to bring an offering to the Lord. No one was allowed to appear empty-handed. Then Moses said, “Your offering must match the way the Lord has blessed you.”
A-pplication:
Whenever you hear someone complain that the church receives too many offerings or that all the church talks about is money, remember this: “God Is Into Offerings!” Anyone who is found complaining about this issue and calls himself or herself a “Follower Of Jesus” had better get off their high horse and read the Bible. Read the Old Testament and how the offerings were established by God through Moses. Just about every detail of life that a person experienced, there was an offering attached to it. Jesus said, “You can’t worship God and money.” So the offering was and is today one of the ways that Lordship is established in a believers life. We must never complain about “Offering Time” in the house of God, because “God Is Into Offerings!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I am blessed to give to You on every occasion. Everything I have is a result of Your kindness to me. Since You’re into offerings, I am too! Amen
