Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?
The prophet Isaiah said that God has purposed all that has happened, and all that will happen. No human can, in any way, turn His purposes in a direction that He has not already purposed. Humans may, in time, be lifted up, but once again, even in that, “God Has Purposed It.”
Probably more than any other verse in the Bible, this passage proves that God has everything under control and nothing comes as a surprise to Him because before the foundations of the world were laid, “God Has Purposed It.” Oh, I know the Calvinists will say, “Of course He has, that’s what we’ve been trying to tell you.” Those who lean toward Arminianism would say, “You mean there is a fixed group known by God, who were saved before they were born? If so, then why do we pray, and why do we spread the good news, and why are we asked to do that by Jesus?” I know the questions will come flying this AM, and I don’t know all the answers. And yes, it all has caused me to search more, and even then to research more. But in the end, there is a Holy Solace in knowing that “God Has Purposed It!”
This AM, I am truly humbled in Your service. I so want to have a logical answer to every question that comes my way and to know that this gospel is FAIR with everyone who comes in contact with it. Yet even then, I know there are those who lived and died never hearing this gospel. Still, I know You have purposed it, and You, my Lord, are a JUST and RIGHTEOUS God. So I rest in the knowledge that “God Has Purposed It!” Amen
