God Answers Prayer!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

2 Kings 20:6

“I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.”

God had sent Isaiah the prophet to tell Hezekiah to get his personal effects in order as he was going to die. Isaiah left the king’s sick quarters and Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and wept and begged God for more time. He reminded God that he was the king who had restored righteousness to Judah. Before Isaiah could get out of the palace, the Lord said to him, “Go back and tell Hezekiah I am adding fifteen more years to his life.”

There are so many stories in both the Old and New Testaments that show us “God Answers Prayer,” but none is quicker and more direct and complete than this story of Hezekiah. Not long before, the Lord had miraculously destroyed one hundred and eighty-five thousand Assyrian soldiers and King Sennacherib’s own sons killed him in the temple their father was worshipping in. Not long after, the King of Judah became ill and it looked as if he would die. BUT… he prayed before the Lord. God changed His edict and added fifteen more years to his life. Friend, this AM it’s imperative that both you and I remember that “God Answers Prayer!” It matters not the problem we bring before the Lord, He alone is able to heal, mend, destroy, and supply any challenge we may be facing. When you’re at your lowest, remember, “God Answers Prayer!”

Dear Jesus,

This AM, after reading this dire prayer of a powerful king about to die, I’m reminded that it is not by might not by power but it is by Your Spirit that my battle will be won. I appeal to You today, please deliver Your victory into my hands! Amen
