Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.
King Solomon has been acknowledged as the leader of wisdom for some three thousand millennia. And here he said that wise people must continue to get learning, and those who are discerning must get guidance.
It’s almost as if Solomon was saying, “I know that in your life you will pursue many things, but of all your pursuits make sure you Get This!” Get learning every day of your life and get guidance at all cost! Why? Added learning produces more potential for wisdom, and more guidance helps produce more understanding as to what to do with the learning we’ve amassed. The times in which we live require the components mentioned in this passage more than ever. I remember well the days of turmoil here in the west during my country’s foray into the Vietnam Conflict. Here at home we students weren’t very adept at listening. Instead, we yelled louder than our older leaders did. And what became of it was a tearing down of morals, ethics, and laws. Now it appears that our seeds of out-yelling the older folks are coming back to haunt us. The yelling has reached a deafening decibel level. BUT somewhere in the middle of the sound someone needs to scream, “GET THIS!” Get learning and get guidance. Most of all, “Get God!”
These times in which I am living remind me of my youth. During the most troubled time in my life, with all my yelling, I somehow got You. The yelling subsided, and the learning and guidance followed. Help me help others find the same. Amen
