For Mothers
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 56:11
In God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?
O-bservation:
King David was up to his neck in trouble and chaos when he wrote these words. Here’s what’s so amazing, he actually lived to tell about it. However, in the midst of his trial, he affirmed that his complete trust was in God Almighty. Because it was, he was able to say, “I’m not afraid of men. What can they do to me?”
A-pplication:
It’s Mother’s Day, and we’re still “shuttered in” due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus. No one really knows what will happen next. But something else happened a couple of months ago that only made news this week. Two white supremacists brutally executed a young black American in broad daylight. The video came out this week, and it shocked the world. The young man’s name is Ahmaud Aubrey. His mother is broken beyond measure on this “Mother’s Day.” How can these kinds of atrocities still be happening in such high-tech and contemporary times? I say it’s because men’s and women’s hearts are still wicked until they truly find the Lord. Thousands of years ago, wicked men were on the brink of killing David, who would be king. In the middle of it, he simply wrote, “I trust God alone. What can man do to me?” That’s what I want to impress upon you today. Especially “For Mothers,” and today for Ahmaud’s mother, will you say it with me. “I trust in God alone, what can man do to me?”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
There’s somewhat of an eerie feeling in the air, especially with the shocking events of this past week. But YOU know all about it. My trust, and today especially “For Mothers,” their trust must be in You and You alone. Amen
