Eyes On The Prize

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Luke 2:49
“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
O-bservation:
These are the words of Jesus to his parents when they had found him in the temple after looking for him for three days. They had taken him to Jerusalem during Passover, and He was twelve years of age at the time. On their journey home they noticed He wasn’t with them and they went back to Jerusalem to look for Him. When they found Him, they asked Him why He had stayed. He told them He needed to be in His Father’s house.
A-pplication:
No one really knows when Jesus became aware of the fact that He was God. Was it while He was in His mother’s womb? In other words, was the journey from His triune authority ever NOT realized by Him, or was there a period where He grew into His earthly realization? If so, perhaps this was the time He was fully aware of who He was. I like to think that He was aware from heaven to His earthly mother’s womb that He was God, and that there was no period when He wasn’t aware of that fact. Either way, Jesus had a fixation about His Father’s House. Whether it was the temple here on earth or our eternal heaven. Remember when He said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions” (John 14:2)? The power of Jesus eternal mission has always been His determination to keep His “Eyes On The Prize.” The truth is, if we have no regard for our Father’s house here on earth, there’ll be no potential for us to experience our Father’s house in heaven. It’s imperative that we keep our “Eyes On The Prize.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With Your help I am determined to keep my “Eyes On The Prize.” Amen
