Everybody Needs Somebody

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Judges 4:8
Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”
O-bservation:
Deborah, the Judge of Israel at the time, had chosen Barak, the warrior, to lead the people of Israel against the Canaanites, led by Sisera. Jabin was the king of the Canaanites, and they had terrorized the Israelis for twenty years. When Barak got the word from Deborah, he said, “I’ll go if you go with me. Otherwise I’m not going.”
A-pplication:
This was not a rebellious statement from Barak to his leader; it was simply a cry for help. He was afraid of going it alone. Deborah was the prophet of God, and the chosen leader of God for Israel and Barak acknowledged that fact. But even so, he and his people had been oppressed brutally by these Canaanites for twenty years, and they were all fearful. He needed his leader, the anointed of God, to go with him and ensure success. Deborah agreed. but said, “If I go you won’t get credit for the win.” Barak said he didn’t care about the credit. She went with him, and they routed the Canaanites. There were thousands involved in the victory, but for Barak, there was only one human who mattered to him—his leader. It really does matter who you have in your corner. Before you consider going at it alone today, remember this story and don’t forget that “Everybody Needs Somebody.”
P-rayer:
