Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

2 Corinthians 8:13

Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality.

This was a plea from the Apostle Paul that the Greek church at Corinth, which was in a financially increased position, would share what they had. The church in Judaea (Jerusalem) was financially stretched and at a breaking point. Even the church in Macedonia, which had little, had given above and beyond from what they had. Paul said to the church at Corinth, “Our goal in this matter is not to hurt you, but that the churches would experience EQUALITY!”

The Apostle actually flipped it one more time, suggesting that there could be a time in the future where the tables may be switched. I have always believed that the law of the harvest directs just about everything that happens on earth. That includes good and bad. What you sow, you will reap. Whenever you are blessed beyond measure, always save some and give some. It’s difficult to give from an empty well. I’ve never felt that God wants some to be rich churches and others to be poor churches. While it is true that all of us experience good times and bad times in this life, if we plan well, we can arrive at the place God intended His church to be. The destination on this side of heaven is that the church would arrive at the place of EQUALITY!

Dear Jesus,

I’m just one small part of Your huge, worldwide church. Help me be a light in my corner of the world that helps EQUALITY happen in Your local church. Help us to save some and give some! Amen
