Encouragement Gives Life

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 14: 20

But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.

O-bservation:

Paul and Barnabas had been preaching and performing miracles in a place called Lystra. Great spiritual awakening was occurring there, but people came in and sowed discord. The people turned against them and stoned Paul and left him for dead. The Bible says the disciples gathered around Paul and he revived and left with Barnabas the next day to preach in a place called Derbe.

A-pplication:

I’m not sure who these disciples were, but we know they were followers of Jesus and certainly championed the ministry of these two leaders, Paul and Barnabas. When this near tragedy occurred, immediately these disciples gathered around Paul and began to care for him. I’m sure tremendous prayer was offered to God above, but then ENCOURAGEMENT certainly followed. Like me, I’m sure you respond when people encourage you. Slowly but surely Paul revived and was found preaching in another city the next day. This, after the people in Lystra had left him for dead. Whatever you do, from this day forward be an encourager. We’ve got far too much discouragement going on in the world today. Encouragement sets us apart. In fact, “Encouragement Gives Life!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Today I ask You to help me be the encouragement to others that You’ve called me to be. In fact, I’m asking this AM for an added blessing. Please give me the gift of encouragement that I may be a blessing. Amen
